Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has released a book on Patna-based 'Super 30' founder Anand Kumar, who has been coaching poor students for IIT entrance examinations free of cost.

Senior Maharashtra ministers Chandrakant Patil and Prakash Mehta and some former pupils of Kumar at 'Super 30' were also present at the event in Mantralaya here last evening.

Kumar, who had met Fadnavis in August last year to discuss ways of imparting quality education to students from poor sections of the state, told PTI the Chief Minister was quite appreciative of the 'Super 30' initiative and expressed his desire to set up something on the same lines to help the needy students.

Under the innovative programme, launched in 2002, Kumar has groomed more than 300 students who have qualified for the IITs. Under this initiative, 30 students from extremely poor families are trained free of cost to crack JEE and secure admission in the IITs.
