Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's office is planning to create a channel on the popular video-sharing platform Youtube, and also to set up a twitter handle for disseminating information related to the state government.

"The initiative for use of social media platforms on a larger scale is in the planning phase. Nitty-gritties are being worked out," said Nidhi Kamdar, officer on special duty at the Chief Minister's office here.

"Videos of the Chief Minister's speeches, functions would be uploaded on Youtube immediately. Information related to announcements by ministers or the Chief Minister would be linked to the new twitter handle. One-line information would be posted on twitter with the state government's website link giving details," she added.

She gave the recent example of a tweet sent by a person to Chief Minister's personal twitter handle giving details about harassment by a police official alongwith a video proof. "The Chief Minister replied saying he had forwarded the details to the concerned police commissioner. This is accessibility at its best. There were 110 re-tweets and the Chief Minister's gesture was appreciated," Kamdar said.
