The Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil today accused Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of making "contradictory" statements on the financial package for farmers and the present condition of state exchequer.

"Fadnavis had said that a Rs 40,000 crore package will be put together for long-term agricultural development in the state. On the other hand, he is also saying the state government may have to take loan to pay salaries of employees. The CM has maligned the image of the state by making these contradictory statements," Vikhe Patil told reporters here.

Responding to a query on a reported remark by BJP MP from Akola Sanjay Dhotre on suicides of farmers, the senior Congress leader said the BJP should take action against him.

"The BJP turned the suicides of farmers into an emotional issue during 'Chai Pe Charcha' programmes ahead of elections but now their MPs are insulting farmers by making such statements. I demand apology from Dhotre," he said.

Dhotre had reportedly said that farmers are committing suicide of their own accord.

Vikhe Patil, who served as a minister in previous Congress-NCP combine, also reiterated his demand for a CISF-manned security at Saibaba temple in Shirdi.

"The Shirdi temple is on the hit list of terrorists. The threat perception has increased in the wake of arrest of a Bangalore youth in connection with his alleged ISIS links," he said, adding, "If government can provide the CISF security to industrialists then why not to Saibaba temple.
