Ahead of the 2019 polls, the Congressleadershipin Maharashtra today started taking feedback from district unitsabout prevailing political situation.

However, the issue of forging alliance with any parties was not discussed, a senior leader said.

He said the feedback received today was"positive".

"The Congress has gained ground since its disastrous performance in the 2014 assembly polls when it could manage to win only 42 seats in the 288-member Assembly," he said.

Senior leaders, including state unit Congress president Ashok Chavan, former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, former Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, met the district unit chiefs and district observers from Marathwada and North Maharashtra.

The discussions will continue for another two days, the leader said, adding that Western Maharashtra and Konkan regions will be covered tomorrow.
