The state-level disciplinary committee of Maharashtra Congress will hold its first meeting here on December 5 to discuss complaints of anti-party activities against some of its leaders during recently-held Assembly elections.

Congress, which has been at the helm of the state for most of the time since its formation, registered its worstever performance winning only 42 seats though it had contested all 288 seats in polls.

A panel headed by former MP Gave Avari had been set up to probe the complaints, which are around 200 in number from all parts of the state.

The party has promised strict action against those found guilty.

The committee members include former MPs Manikrao Gavit, Ravisheth Patil, former state minister Ramesh Bagve and senior office-bearers Mahadev Shelar and Trimbak Jhavar, an MPCC release said today.
