Maha Cong sets up manifesto committee for ZP & panchayat polls

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Ashok Chavan has set up a manifesto committee headed by former state minister Balasaheb Thorat for the zilla parishad and panchayat samiti polls scheduled in early 2017.

A statement issued by MPCC today said, the 15-member committee comprises, among others, former ministers Muhammed Arif Naseem Khan, Ranjit Kamble, Mahila Congress state unit chief Charulata Tokas and state Youth Congress chief Vishwajeet Kadam.

Elections are to be held in 26 zilla parishads and 296 panchayat samitis along with 10 municipal corporations, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), in early 2017.
