A man and his wife were arrested
for allegedly trying to kill the former's father over a family dispute in Virar town of Maharashtra's Palghar district, police said on Tuesday.
The police have arrested Kiran Patil and his wife Veena after they allegedly attacked Parshuram Patil (73) with a sickle on Monday, inspector Suresh Varade of Virar police station said.
The victim and the accused are locked in a dispute and there is some litigation involved, he said.
The accused duo allegedly attacked the elderly victim while he was plucking flowers from his garden and injured him badly, he said.
While his wife and two minor children held the old man down, Kiran attacked him with the sickle, he added.
While the couple has been charged under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code, no action has been taken against the two minor children, he added.
