Newly-anointed Maharashtra Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis today asked state DGP to probe the gruesome murder of three members of a Dalit family in Ahmednagar district last month.

Fadnavis told a delegation, which met him here today, that his government will ensure that the case is tried in a fast track court.

The chief minister asked the DGP to probe the matter and submit a report, an official told PTI after the state cabinet meeting.

State minister Pankaja Munde will tomorrow visit the village in Ahmednagar district where killings took place. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray visited the village today.

Former state minister for EGS, Nitin Raut, had requested Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao to ensure immediate arrest of the culprits responsible for the brutal killing of three persons from a Dalit family at Javkheda in Pathardi taluka of Ahmednagar district.

He had also demanded the setting of a fast track court to run the trial in the case and called for long-term measures to avoid recurrence of such incidents.

On October 21, a day after the killings, bodies of three persons, one of them decapitated, were found dumped in a dry well in Javkheda village.
