Maha DGP deposes in Thane court

Police (DGP) Sanjeev Dayal today deposed in a local court regarding his sanction to prosecute a police inspector in a graft case.

The police chief who arrived in the court of Judge M M Walimohammed replied to queries by additional public prosecutor Sanjay Londhe.

Inspector Balasaheb S Muthe had allegedly accepted a bribe Rs 10,000 from a complainant in a matter related to caste verification certificate in 2011.

He was later apprehended by Anti-Corruption Bureau officials in March 2011.

The DGP, being the authority to sanction prosecution of the police officers, replied to the queries by Londhe.
 

Elaborate security arrangements were made around the court in view of the DGP's visit.
