Maha forms committee for implementation of new Bamboo policy

The Maharashtra government has set up a state level committee for recommending steps for effective implementation of the new Bamboo policy.

"I have constituted a state level committee for effective implementation of the Bamboo policy. Committee consists of high level government officials along with experts in the field of Bamboo," Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said today.

The 12-member committee will be headed by Principal Secretary of Rural Development.

Improving Bamboo production in a scientific manner and giving a boost to Bamboo related industries is the main focus on the new Bamboo policy, Mungantiwar said, adding that a research and training centre has begun in Chichpalli in Chandrapur district.
