"The programme will be launched across the state on January 3. 'Prabhat pheris' (morning march) will be organised by the students in the entire state on that day. For the first time, the government has undertaken such a type of programme," Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Varsha Gaikwad told reporters here.
"The programme will lay emphasis on empowerment of teenage girls. Besides, awareness that needs to be created to stop female foeticide," she added.
The government would try to inform people about various policies and schemes related to women through the ten-day programme, Gaikwad said.
The programme would begin on January 3 next year, the birth anniversary of social reformer Savitribai Phule, and would culminate on January 12.
