Maha govt to provide relief to those hit by excess rains

Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Patangrao Kadam said collectors and tehsildars have been told to provide compensation as per guidelines to citizens who have suffered losses in heavy rains.

"Kin of victims of natural calamity will be given Rs one lakh and those rendered homeless given Rs 1,000 per person," he said.

Kadam said collectors have been asked to submit a report regarding losses to crops and roads. "We have sought information on whether norms can be relaxed to provide immediate relief," he said.

Kadam said the list of talukas which experienced excessive rains is being compiled and a report will be put forward in the Cabinet meeting this week.

 

Vidarbha has experienced excessive rains in the last few months.
