Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao advised youth to focus on skill development.

"Failed in standard 7th? There is no need to bother. You can still make it in life, if you have skills," Rao said on Saturday to highlight the importance of developing skills.

Addressing a gathering at the 45th anniversary of a school in Bhiwandi, Rao said, "In the changing world when the people have begun to look up to India as an investment destination, skills matter for people, especially youngsters from different walks of life."

"One may have educational qualifications like graduation, engineering or medical degrees, but skills have nothing to do with the educational qualifications. Skills, these days, play a vital role in earning a living," he added.

"Since we are expecting huge investments in the county in the next three to four years, we have to develop as large a number of skilled people to meet the requirements of several industries that are going to be set up during this period," the Governor added.
