Maharashtra Health Minister Deepak Sawant has asked doctors to intensify the organ donation movement in the state.
Speaking at the state level function yesterday to mark 'No Tobacco Day' here, Sawant asked doctors to start by themselves by filling up forms for organ donation.
"There is a dire need for educating masses and creating awareness about organ donation. Hence the organ donation movement needs to be intensified. For the same the doctors should start from themselves by filling the organ donation forms," Sawant said.

The minister also said that efforts are on to make the Tobacco Control regulations more stringent.
"Along with the diseases arising out of tobacco, there was need for examining the citizens on various ailments relating to the dental, breast cancer and other illness," he said.
On the occasion, Sawant also felicitated doctors who served in quake-hit Nepal and flagged off an anti-tobacco rally in the presence of city mayor Sanjay More and other senior officials.
