Maha Legislative Council polls scheduled for June 10

The Election Commission of India (ECI) today announced that polling for 10 seats of Maharashtra Legislative Council will be held on June 10.

As per the election schedule announced by ECI, the last date for filling nominations is May 31, while its scrutiny will be taken up on June 1. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is June 3, and counting of votes will be taken up on June 10 itself.

The Council members are elected by Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in respective states.

The ECI has already announced the election for Thane Local Authorities constituency which will be held on June 3 and counting of votes will take place on June 6.
 

The 10 retiring MLCs whose term in the Upper House ends on July 7 include - Ramraje Nimbalkar, Prakash Binsale and Dhananjay Munde (all NCP), Dipti Chavdhari and Muzaffar Hussain (both Congress), Shobhatai Fadnavis and Vinayak Mete (both BJP), Subhash Desai and Diwakar Raote (both Shiv Sena) and Vijay Sawant (Independent).
