Maha legislature pays tribute to Jaywantiben, 9 others

Both the Houses of Maharashtra legislature today paid tributes to nine of its former members, including Union minister of state in the then Vajpayee government, Jaywantiben Mehta, who passed away recently.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis moved the condolence motion in the Assembly, while state Finance Minister Sudhir Mungattiwar moved the same in the Upper House.

The other members who were offered respect by the House included Ram Aswale, Narsinghrao Patil, Baburao Kokate, Ashok Sable, Mahadeo Patil, Manohar Taide, Chunnilal Raghuwanshi, Tatyarao Jadhav and Vimalatai Borade.

Opposition leader Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil (Congress), Jayant Patil (NCP) in the Lower House and opposition leader in Council Dhananjay Munde and others paid tributes to the deceased members, and recalled their contribution to the state legislature and respective constituencies.
 

Speaker Haribhau Bagde and Chairman Ramraje Nimbalkar adopted the motion. A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
