Maha: Man held for killing wife in Vasai

A 21-year-old man was arrested

for allegedly killing his wife and destroying the evidence in Vasai town of Maharashtra's Palghar district, police said on Tuesday.

The Valiv police arrested Kamal Prem Thapa from Nepali Chawl in Pelhar area and booked him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, said Dr Ashwini Patil, deputy superintendent of police (Vasai division).

The accused, who was employed as a cook in a hotel, frequently quarrelled with his 20-year-old wife, an official said.

On the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, the accused allegedly killed his wife and hanged her body from a tree in his neighbour's farm, he said.

 

The victim's body has been sent for post-mortem and the police is probing to ascertain the motive behind the killing, he added.
