A man was Thursday arrested in Maharashtra's Thane district for allegedly possessing fake mining permits, an official said.
Viki Mali (25) was arrested on a tip-off from Shivaji Chowk in Kalwa township here, said Anti-Extortion Cell inspector Sanjay Shinde.
"He had two receipt books of mining permits with seal and signature of additional collector. An inspection proved they were forged. The watermark was missing and there were other discrepancies as well. He said he got them from Uday Nair and Abdul Khan, both from Thane," he said.
A case of cheating has been registered, the official said.
