Maharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, who had sought inputs for the preparation of state's annual Budget, has received a total of 3,972 suggestions from across the country.
Mungantiwar, who will present the state Budget in the Legislative Assembly on March 18, had sought suggestions from the Chief Ministers and Chief Secretaries of different states, his cabinet colleagues, high ranking government officials, experts from various fields, political parties as well as common people of the state.
For the first time, suggestions were sought through sources like e-mail, social media such as whatsapp, SMS and the government website, as well as letters and drop box.

"The topics covered in the suggestions are mainly related to increase in the revenue collection of the state, women's empowerment, VAT, solar energy, rural development, skill development, youth empowerment, and cultural development. All these suggestions are being examined and steps are being taken to incorporate some of them in the annual Budget," Mungantiwar said.
Stating that he was trying to reflect the expectations and aspirations of common people in the budget, the minister said, "I am hopeful that the Budget will lead the state to new horizons of progress and development.
