Maharashtra Minister Eknath Shinde has inaugurated a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) office in the city.
Shinde, Minister for PWD and also district guardian minister, inaugurated the office in Khevara circle area last evening, on the occasion of 'Gudi Padwa' (Marathi New Year).
He said SRA and cluster development projects which are directed towards planned development will go a long way in changing the face of the lake city.

"This (opening of SRA office) will help achieve government's aim of of providing affordable houses to the masses," Shinde added.
According to the Minister, SRA is of prime importance in making Thane city "slum free".
Thane mayor Sanjay More, Kalyan MP Srikant Shinde, MLAs Pratap Sarnaik, Sanjay Kelkar, MLC Niranjan Davkhare, other local leaders and senior civic officials were present on the occasion.
