Maha raises rewards for artists performing in theatre fest

Maharashtra government has decided to raise the reward amount given to artists performing for the theatre festival, organised by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs and state Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs.

"The government has taken a decision to increase the reward amount and money given for presentation, daily wages etc. To amateur and professional Marathi, Sanskrit, Hindi plays, musical plays and children's plays being presented under the state theatre festival," a state Finance Department official said.

He said all prize amounts for initial and final rounds in plays in amateur Marathi theatre competition, children's plays have been doubled.

Also, all the prize amounts for amateur Hindi theatre competition, Sanskrit theatre competition and musical theatre competition have been doubled, he added.
 

"Now, the first play winning the Marathi professional drama competition will get a prize of Rs 7.5 lakh, the second play will get Rs 4.5 lakh, while the third one will get the prize of Rs 3 lakh. Other prize amounts in the final round have been doubled," the official said.

He added that the amount for daily allowance of artists participating in the drama competition, the daily allowance of juries, money given for presentation in the first and the final rounds also have been doubled.
