Maha: Record 88 pc students pass SSC exam; girls fare better

A record 88.32 per cent students passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC/class X) exam held by Maharashtra Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board in March this year, with the girls outnumbering the boys.

The pass percentage of the freshers this year has been the highest so far, chairman of the board Gangadhar Mhamane told a press conference here today.

Boys, with 88.32 per cent, lagged behind in pass percentage as against the 90.55 per cent girls declared successful in a total of over 15 lakh students, who appeared for the board exam.

Konkan registered the highest pass percentage among nine divisions of the board.
 

Division-wise pass percentage -- Pune 92.35, Nagpur 82.93, Aurangabad 87.06, Mumbai 88.84, Kolhapur 93.83, Amaravati 84.11, Nashik 89.15, Latur 81.68, and Konkan 95.57.

As many as 3,949 schools in the state posted hundred per cent result, Mhamane said, adding over 40,000 students scored 90 per cent or more marks in the examination.
