Maha tables Rs 11,104 cr supplementary demands in Assembly

The Maharashtra government today tabled supplementary demands to the tune of Rs 11,104 crore in the Legislative Assembly.

Prominent among the demands include expenditure for purchase of laptops for Maharashtra Legislative Council. The total expenditure for this purpose is Rs 1.44 crore.

It has been decided to purchase and fix 88 branded touch screen and detachable laptop in the house for the members.

Another demand is for financial assistance to the heirs of farmers who have committed suicide. The government has decided to make provision of Rs 14.07 crore to be given as ex-gratia relief in eligible suicide cases of farmers.
 

Provision of Rs 10.12 crore has been made as reimbursement to the transport department for subsidies which are given by state road transport corporation as concession in passenger fares to various categories.

There is a demand to provide funds of Rs 8 crore for advertisement and publicity of 'jal pujan' and 'bhoomi pujan' of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial and inauguration of Mumbai Metro Line, Shivdi-Nhava Sheva project and new railway projects under MUTP.

As the expenditure was of urgent nature pending authorisation by Legislature, an advance of Rs 8 crore was withdrawn from contingency fund. Supplementary demands worth Rs 116 crore has been made for provision of loan to district cooperative banks for obtaining banking license.

The demands will be debated in the Legislature next week.
