As part of proposed 'Maharashtra Samruddhi Corridor', the state government today decided to create a separate category of "seasonal irrigated land" along with irrigated and non-irrigated land.

The decision was taken by a Cabinet sub-committee chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis with an objective to give more benefits to farmers for the Corridor, connecting Nagpur and Mumbai.

It was decided to create a separate category of "seasonal irrigated land along with irrigated & non-irrigated land" as demanded by farmers, an official in the Chief Minister's Office said.

The 706-km 'Maharashtra Samruddhi Corridor' comprises an eight-lane expressway with 23 townships alongside, which navigate through 354 villages spanning ten districts.

The sub-committee also decided to give benefits of "Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya" (a health insurance scheme) and to provide facilities for higher education.

The government will give a buy back guarantee to banks in case the land owner wants to avail loan for developed non-agricultural land.

All those who give their land by the pooling method will become project partners in the Samruddhi Corridor project and can avail more benefits, the official said.

Fadnavis also chaired a meeting to chalk out a plan for improvement of roads in state through Hybrid Annuity Model. Around 10,000 km of roads will be selected equally from almost all districts in state for improvement, he added.

Roads will be selected so as to connect important towns, industrial sector, revenue headquarters as well as the spots crucial for tourism.

According to the official, the CM also instructed to approve a list of roads by this month-end and asked PWD (Public Works Department) to raise money through various development projects.
