After filing an FIR against the private ground handler Cambata Aviation, the BJP-led Maharashtra Government has decided to form a committee that will monitor day to day activities until dues of employees are cleared.
Earlier, BJP's alliance partner Shiv Sena had came out in support to the workers who were rendered jobless due to financial crisis at the firm.
"(Activist) Anjali Damania along with the group of Cambata employees met me. We have suggested to form a committee comprising Assistant Commissioner, Labour, Central government, Assistant Commissioner, Labour, state government and representatives of the workers to monitor day-to-day events to take this issue to a logical end," Labour Minister Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar said.
He said the committee will be formed soon and that government has been taking all possible steps to solve the issue and get Cambata to pay these employees their rightful dues.
The government had last week filed an FIR against Cambata Aviation and Bird Worldwide Flight Service which has leased the former's equipment for not cooperating with officials to seize the equipment as directed by court, to pay dues of employees.
Nilangekar had already initiated a legal action to seize Cambata's equipment because the company has delayed its response to settle dues of its employees.
Damania had recently met Sena president Uddhav Thackeray and sought his intervention to ensure that employees were paid their salaries, pending since February last year.
In a joint press conference with Damania, Sena leader Neelam Gorhe had earlier this week said the four unions led by leaders of various parties had failed to provide justice to workers.
