Maha wins championship for overall performance at police meet

Maharashtra police bagged the general championship for overall performance at the 62nd All India Police Duty Meet in Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh for the first time, a senior official said Sunday.

The meet saw 1,250 participants from police units of 30 states as well as Central forces, the senior Maharashtra CID official said, adding that the state contingent had 40 members.

"Our police team bagged 5 golds, 3 silvers and four bronze medals in the face of stiff competition and bagged the general championship," Atulchandra Kulkarni, Additional Director General of Police, CID, said.

Competitions like scientific aid to investigation, forensic science, anti-sabotage check, computer awareness, police photography and videography, and dog squad competition were among the disciplines at the meet, he said.

 

Besides the overall championship, the Maharashtra police team also got Hardline Trophy for scientific aid to investigation and runner-up trophy for videography, he said.

The meet is aimed at improving quality of police investigations, he said.
