'Mahadalit' man killed for refusing to make liquor in Nawada

A man belonging to 'Mahadalit' community was beaten to death while another was badly injured by local goons when they refused to make liquor in Bihar's Nawada district today, police said.

The incident occurred at Pansadwa village of Kauwakol police station area of the district when both refused to make illegal liquor, Kauwakol police station SHO Manoj Kumar said.

The deceased has been identified as Nirav Manjhi (50) while Chhote Manjhi, who received serious injuries in the incident, is battling for life at a local hospital, Kumar said.

Complete prohibition is in force in Bihar since April 2016 that bans manufacture, trade, sale, storage and consumption of liquor in the state.
 

The goons allegedly indulged in manufacturing liquor illegally in the village, the SHO said adding that police have sent the body to sadar hospital for postmortem.

None has been arrested so far in the case, the SHO said.
