The ostracisation took place on February 3 at Deshia Tola panchayat as per the orders of the mukhiya (panchayat chief) Anwar and sarpanch Mannun during a panchayat meeting for allegedly threatening to frame some people under the SC/ST Act following a clash.
The Mahadalits belonged to several families and one of their women lodged an FIR with the police against the mukhiya and the sarpanch under various sections of the IPC and SC/ST Act.
Police have visited the village and an investigation was on in the matter.
