Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today called upon students to take advantage of initiatives like Startup India and Skill India and do something new for the society.
Mahajan stressed upon the need of imagination in education but regretted this quality was on decline following rise in online facilities.
She was addressing the 30th Convocation of the Ranchi University here.

Mahajan suggested new entrepreneurs should invent such a machine that could separate plastic materials from garbage.
Appealing youths to utilise their knowledge for the development of the society, Mahajan said they have an important role to play in achieving development goal.
The Speaker said utilisation of education was not just for getting "package" but to secure knowledge.
She said it was not just a matter of taking a title at convocation but a need to contribute towards society.
Mahajan said she would not say one should go to village after attaining higher education by compulsion but one does have a responsibility to share his efficiency with people of his region.

She referred to former president A P J Abdul Kalam's views in this regard and said one must think about in which way he could do something for the villages and endeavour for 'Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas' (PURA) so that the villager do not face hardship.
Mahajan said we should all accord priority to prosperity of the nation and ensure social welfare.
To achieve inclusive development, she stressed upon the importance of studying social science and humanity along with science and technology.
Referring to the revolution witnessed in e-commerce and telecommunication sectors, she cited Uber's example.
The way Uber has become the largest taxi service provider in the world, the youth should move forward propelled by such vision, she said.
Mahajan also stressed upon the need for improvement in the field of quality research.
