Maharashtra Advocate General Sunil Manohar has resigned from his post citing personal reasons.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "The Advocate General (Manohar) has resigned for personal reasons. He, continues to be a special counsel of the Government of Maharashtra. The charge of AG has been handed over to ASG of the Government of India, Advocate Anil Singh."

An eminent lawyer, Manohar was appointed as Advocate General (AG) of Maharashtra on November 18 last year after BJP-led government came to power.

He had replaced Darius Khambatta who was appointed as AG in 2012.
