Maharashtra Chief Secretary D K Jain Saturday inspected the state secretariat here and asked the departments concerned to ensure the premises is kept clean.
He asked the Public Works Department (PWD) to submit a list of construction material, timber, other material waste and furniture kept in the Mantralaya (secretariat) corridor within three days, an official statement said here.
Accordingly, the departments concerned will be asked to remove these items from the secretariat building, which houses the offices of ministers and senior bureaucrats, it said.
Jain also directed that washrooms and floors be kept clean, the statement said.
In order to facilitate smooth entry of visitors into the high-security zone, the chief secretary during his meeting with PWD officials suggested increasing the entry pass counters, X-ray machines and to create an alternate arrangement for parking, the statement said.
The Public Works Department should submit a list of cupboards, documents, furniture and pamphlets kept by various departments in the Mantralaya corridor in two to three days so that these items are removed from the premises, he said.
