Chavan, along with Home Minister R R Patil, today held a meeting with Muslim religious leaders and editors of Urdu dailies here.
Chavan also said the government had asked the police to get in touch with Union Government's Computer Emergency Response Team (DG-CERT) for removal/blocking of controversial cartoons and films from the internet.
"There is a conspiracy to create communal disharmony by spreading anti-Islam movie with the help of social networking sites," Chavan was quoted as saying in an official press release.
Chavan also told them that he had spoken to Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and recommended blocking of objectionable web content.
