Maharashtra grab 3 points in drawn match against Odisha

Owing to their first innings lead, Maharashtra grabbed three crucial points against Odisha after their Ranji Trophy Group A match ended in a draw at the Barabati Stadium here today.

On the fourth and final day, Kedar Jadhav (100) cracked a superb hundred as Maharashtra declared their second innings at 289 for four in 92.1 overs after resuming from overnight score of 156 for 3.

Chasing a target of 304, Odisha scored 129 for five in 55 overs in their second innings. The hosts gathered one point from the match.

Earlier, Jadhav and AR Bawne resumed their innings and shared a 113-run partnership for the fourth wicket before the latter was sent packing by J Behera in the 82nd over.
 

Jadhav then added another unbeaten 51 runs with RA Tripathi (17) as Maharashtra declared their second innings after the former reached his century. The 30-year-old scored 15 fours in 133 balls.

Defending their total, Maharashtra's AA Sanklecha grabbed two quick wickets to reduce Odisha to 26 for two in 7.2 overs but AR saranhi (28) and GG Rout (31) dug their heels and added 43 runs in 26 overs.

Sarangi was dismissed in the 34th over when he was caught by Khurana off Gugale. Five overs later, Rout too had to walk back to the pavillion when he was run out by Gugale.

Skipper BB Samantray (19) was the last batsman to be dismissed today when he was trapped infront of the wicket by Fallah.
