Mahi Vij to play gangster on TV show

Popular TV actress Mahi Vij will play the role of a gangster in the crime series 'Encounter'.

The episode will depict the tale of an aspiring actress Aashna, who runs away from her home to become the first woman gangster in the history of underworld.

The actress, popular for her role of Nakusha in daily soap 'Laagi Tujhse Lagan', will use an underworld gangster as her ladder to reach her aim.

"I am essaying the role of a female gangster Aashna, the first woman gangster in the underworld, who is very strong headed and aspires to achieve a powerful life," Mahi said in a statement.
 

"My experience of shooting for 'Encounter' has been lovely, specially working with talented actors like Manini Mishra, Siraj Mustafa, Vinay Jain and Ali Hasan, who have been in the industry from a long time. I am sure the audience will love our work," she said.

Another popular TV actress Manini Mishra will essay the role of inspector Mita Gaikward.

"In the show, I fight for women's rights and play an active role in fighting criminals. She is passionate, headstrong, and courageous. The experience of shooting 'Encounter' itself was very exciting and challenging," Manini said.

The episode will be aired coming Friday on Sony.
