Mahila Congress seeks opportunities to contest assembly polls

The mahila wing of the opposition Congress here has made a representation to PCC president A Namassivayam, MLA, to ensure women are given due opportunities to contest the coming Assembly polls in the Union Territory.

A PCC release said a consultative meeting of it's women's wing adopted a resolution urging the PCC leader to ensure due opportunities for the women's wing to contest the poll.

Puducherry would to go to polls in the next few months and the opposition Congress has already started gearing up party cadres for the it. Already appointments of functionaries for various wings had been done.
 

The consultative meeting of the women's wing discussed the poll prospects for the party and the women sought adequate opportunities to field candidates on behalf of the mahila wing and contest the polls.

Namassivayam told the participants that their representation would be taken note of for follow up action in consultation with the party high command.
