The activists of Mahila Congress today held a protest outside the official residence of the Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh over the reported shifting of AIIMS to Kashmir and shelving of artificial lake project in Jammu.

Led by the President of state wing of Mahila Congress, Indu Pawar, the activists raised slogans accusing the government of 'step-motherly' treatment with Jammu.

"The government has turned a blind eye towards Jammu, be it shifting of AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir and now shelving of the artificial lake project," Pawar told reporters.

She said the BJP which once claimed to champion the cause of discrimination for Jammu has abandoned it after coming to power.

"The BJP has betrayed the people of Jammu, who voted for them to end the discrimination but in the past two months it has been proven that the party was hungry for power and they have abandoned the people of Jammu...," she said.

She said her party would continue its struggle to get AIIMS for Jammu and would strive hard so that the artificial lake project is completed.

"We will struggle to get an AIIMS for Jammu, we are not against AIIMS for Kashmir, but we want an AIIMS for Jammu. The abandoning of the artificial lake project is a clear indication that BJP has sold out the interests of Jammu to Kashmir," she said.
