Mahindra First Choice, a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, is eyeing a big space in the car service industry after OEM maintenance, an official of the company said.

"The after-market car service industry is presently having a size of Rs 20,000 crore. Out of this, half is taken away by the local garages," Mahindra First Choice CEO Y V S Vijay Kumar told reporters here today.

This industry would assume the size of Rs 33,000 crore by 2020, he said.

The company, eyeing this opportunity, had opened 20 company-owned-company-operated (COCO) workshops and 200 franchisees across the country, he said adding that another 300 such units would start working by the end of next fiscal.

Kumar said that the company would complete back-end support to the franchisee workshops and they would be able to recover their investments in two to three years.

The workshops would give service for all brands of cars besides Mahindra, he said.
