Home-grown auto major Mahindra & Mahindra today reported a 19.56 per cent decline in its tractor sales at 19,257 units in May as against 23,940 units in the same month last year.
Domestic tractor sales in May stood at 18,245 units against 23,132 units in the year-ago month, down 21.12 per cent, the company said in a statement.
Exports during the month were at 1,012 units compared with 808 units last year, up 25.24 per cent, it added.
M&M President and Chief Executive (Farm Equipment and Two-Wheeler Division) Rajesh Jejurikar said: "For the tractor industry, the upcoming monsoon will be the primary trigger and we are hopeful of a good monsoon which will have a positive impact on pent-up demand thereby leading to improved market sentiments.
