It will now be available across dealerships in eight new states before being rolled out pan-India, the Mumbai-based firm said in a statement.

Maharashtra, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh and Rajasthan are the other states where the scooter has been launched.

"Since its launch last year, Gusto has grown consistently and we are now excited about extending the Gusto brand into include new consumer segments," Mahindra Two Wheelers Chief Operating Officer Vinod Sahay said.

Developed completely in-house at Mahindra Two Wheelers' R&D Centre in Pune, the Mahindra Gusto 125 comes with 125cc M-TEC engine with MCDi technology that senses the load on the engine and adjusts the ignition timing.
