Mahrajganj Police station set on fire after village head shot

A police station was set on fire by an agitated mob after some unidentified persons allegedly shot dead Motipur village head in Mahrajganj area here, police said.

The incident took place this evening when some unidentified persons shot dead Singhasan Yadav (38) leading to protest by villagers, they said.

The agitated villagers gheraoed Mahrajganj police station, hurled stones and later set it afire in which over a dozen bikes, recored room, mess, constables room and 12 rifles were gutted, police said.

Senior officials including DM and SP have reached the spot and trying to control the situation.
