Main accused in morphing of women's photos taken into custody

A photo studio employee, the main accused in a case of alleged morphing ofphotographs of women at weddings and otherceremonies in and around Vadakara, about 50 km from here, was taken into custody today, police said.

Bibish, the photo editor of the studio, was taken into custody from Idukki this morning,Circle Inspector of Vadakara, Madhusudhan, the Investigating Officer in the case, said.

He was booked under Sections 66D (punishment for cheating by impersonation by using computer resources) and 67 (punishment for publishing and transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act and the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code, he said.

 

Bibish has been accused of morphing pictures takenat ceremonies for circulation online for pornographic purposes.

The studio owner and photographer were arrested a few days back, police said.

The Kerala state Women's Commission had initiated a suo motu case and directed the District Police Chief to form a special police team to probe the matter.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had announced in the assembly yesterday that a probe by a Special Investigation team was on in the case.

He had also said that the studio had been sealed and several documents recovered from there.
