Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) B D Mishra on Thursday advised students of Sainik School in East Siang district to "maintain discipline in life to achieve success", an official statement by Raj Bhavan said.
The newly inaugurated Sainik School, the first in the state, began its first academic session a month ago.
"Only a handful of students get admission in Sainik schools, considered one of the best educational institutes in the country. It is imperative that the students make best use of the opportunity and become responsible citizens," the statement said quoting Mishra.
The governor, accompanied by his wife Neelam Mishra, distributed sweets and T-shirts on the occasion.
He also exhorted the students to prepare themselves for future challenges by imbibing moral values, it said.
Officiating Principal Lt Col ADS Jasrotia, on his part, briefed the governor about the institute, the Raj Bhavan statement said.
A green drive was also organised on the campus Thursday, where students along with the governor planted saplings, it added.
