Maize, barley extend gains on demand from consuming industries

Maize and barley extended gains for the third day and prices rose by another Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale market following increased demand from consuming industries.

Traders said rising demand from consuming industries against tight supplies from producing belts mainly kept maize and barley prices higher.

In the national capital, Maize and barley gained by another Rs 10 each to Rs 1,350-1,355 and Rs 1,560-1,570 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Wheat MP (deshi) 2,245-2,445, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,630-1,635, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,635-1,640, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill Rs 860-880 (50 kg), Maida 920-925 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,050-1,060 (50 kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 7,000-7,600, Rice Pusa (1121) 5,600-6,200, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,250-2,300, Sela 2,650-2,700 and Rice IR-8 1,925-1,975,Bajra 1,100-1,105, Jowar yellow 1300-1,375, white 2,300-2,450, Maize 1,350-1,355, Barley 1,560-1,570.
