Maize prices dipped by Rs 27 to Rs 1,371 per quintal in futures trade today following renewed selling by traders in tandem with weak spot market sentiments.

Marketmen said weak physical market sentiments, where prices remained under supply pressure, largely held maize prices in red.

Also, slackened demand from cattle-feed markets was another dampening factor, they added.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize for October delivery declined further by Rs 27, or 1.93 per cent to Rs 1,371 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,970 lots. Meanwhile, most active September delivery lost again by Rs 14, or 1.02 per cent to Rs 1,363 per quintal, with an open interest of 16,080 lots.
