Maize edges up in thin trade

Maize prices edged higher by Rs 5 per quintal in lacklustre trade at the wholesale grains market today due to scattered demand.

However, other grains including wheat and rice basmati traded in a tight range on little doing and settled around previous levels.

Traders said some demand from consuming industries mainly led to the rise in maize prices.

In the national capital, maize edged up by Rs 5 to Rs 1,245-1,250 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Wheat MP (deshi) 2,245-2,445, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,600-1,605, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,610-1,620, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill Rs 850-860 (50 kg), Maida 905-915 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,040-1,060 (50 kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 7,600-8,000, Rice Pusa (1121) 6,000-7,000, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,250-2,300, Sela 2,650-2,700 and Rice IR-8 1,925-1,975,Bajra 1,155-1,160, Jowar yellow 1,375-1,400, white 2,300-2,500, Maize 1,245-1,250, Barley 1,600-1,605.
