Maize prices eased by Rs 5 to Rs 1,692 per quintal in futures trade today as participants trimmed their positions at prevailing levels to book profits.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, maize for delivery in far-month August fell by Rs 5 or 0.29 per cent to Rs 1,692 per quintal, with an open interest of 23,110 lots.

On similar lines, most-active delivery in July traded lower by Rs 4 or 0.24 per cent to Rs 1,658 per quintal in an open interest of 26,020 lots.

Marketmen said profit selling by traders at prevailing higher levels and increased arrivals from growing regions in the market led to the fall in maize prices.
