Maize prices were down by Rs 13 to Rs 1,233 per quintal in futures trading today as participants trimmed their bets, tracking a weak trend at the physical markets on subdued demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize for delivery in May dropped down by Rs 13, or 1.04 per cent to Rs 1,233 per quintal, with an open interest of 11,910 lots.

Also, delivery in June eased by Rs 12, or 0.94 per cent to Rs 1,261 per quintal, in an open interest of 18,810 lots.

Marketmen said apart from increased arrivals, slackness in demand from poultry-feed makers at the physical markets, mainly led to the fall in prices at future trade here.
