Maize rises in thin trade

Barring a rise in maize prices on pick up in demand from consuming industries, rest other grains held steady at the wholesale grains market today.

Traders said besides pick up in demand from consuming industries, restricted arrivals from producing belts supported the upside in maize prices.

In the national capital, maize moved up by Rs 10 to Rs 1,235-1,240 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Wheat MP (deshi) 2,245-2,445, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,610-1,615, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,615-1,620, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill Rs 855-865 (50 kg), Maida 915-925 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,090-1,100 (50 kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 7,700-8,200, Rice Pusa (1121) new 6,500-8,200, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,250-2,300, Sela 2,650-2,700 and Rice IR-8 1,925-1,975,Bajra 1,160-1,165, Jowar yellow 1,380-1,400, white 2,300-2,500, Maize 1,235-1,240, Barley 1,610-1,615.
