Bajwa, who was commissioned in the Punjab Regiment in March 1984, assumed charge as Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations after the retirement of Maj Gen Athar Abbas.
The new spokesman has held several command, staff and instructional appointments, including command of an infantry brigade group and a strike infantry division.
He earlier served as deputy military secretary to the President.
