Maj Gen P Nagesh Rao takes over command at Red Shield Div

Major General P Nagesh Rao has taken over the Command of Red Shield Division, the premier Army formation in Manipur, official sources said.

After a successful tenure, Major General P M Bali has handed over the reins of the division to Rao.

During Bali's command, the division's main thrust was to combat the menace of militancy in the state and to assist state machinery in maintaining peace and stability, officials said today.

He was also instrumental in successful implementation of various military civic action programmes under 'Operation Sadbhavana' to ensure facilities and amenities are provided to the locals in need as also strengthen the bond between the Army and the people of Manipur.
 

Major General Rao, who took charge on Saturday last, is a decorated officer of the Parachute Regiment with experience both in India and abroad.

The General has experience in handling counter-insurgency operations both at staff and at grassroot level. The General Officer represented the Army as Chief Advisor, Indian Military Advisory Team in Africa.
